Digital Profiler - Course Aligned Questionnaire option

Note: available in Digital Robot for Study systems.

Overview

While the complete Digital Profiler questionnaire identifies a candidate's skills against the complete DigComp 3.0 framework, the Digital Profiler - Course Aligned questionnaire option allows for candidates to complete a questionnaire that only addresses the skills and skill levels needed to engage with a particular course, based on the levels identified in the creation of a Course Profile within the Digital Robot system.

The toggle to turn on use of this function can be accessed in the System Settings - Questionnaire Settings.

Default Questionnaire

If the Digital Profiler - Course Aligned function is switched on in the system settings, this sets this questionnaire as the 'default' for all candidates and access methods (invite or direct link). Any time a candidate accesses either version of the Digital Profiler questionnaire (complete or course aligned ), if a course is selected the questionnaire will default to the Course Aligned version. Course selection can occur during the invitation stage, or when a candidate is entering OR confirming their details.

How does the Digital Profiler - Course Aligned questionnaire work?

The Digital Profiler - Course Aligned Questionnaire uses a Course Profile from the system to determine which digital skills areas to be included in the questionnaire (i.e., if a skills area is not identified as relevant to a specific course, then it is not included in the questionnaire).

The main difference in the structure of the Course Aligned questionnaire vs the complete questionnaire include:

  • The pre-screening questions section is not included;
  • For each skill area relevant to the course, knowledge check questions start 1 band below the identified skill level, then moves up or down based on responses;
  • Knowledge check questions stop at the identified skill level of the course profile, and do not advance to higher level questions;
  • Each skill area not relevant to the course (i.e. with a level of 0) will not be addressed.

Areas that are not required by the Course Profile are skipped in the questionnaire, reducing assessment time while still confirming whether the learner meets the required capability level.

As the Digital Profiler - Course Aligned questionnaire does not include the initial pre-screening section covering the 21 competencies of the DigComp framework and only addresses the competencies identified as relevant by the selected Course Profile it is expected to have a much shorter completion time. The Course Aligned questionnaire should usually take around 45 minutes to complete and can be accessed on a computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.

An important note regarding the candidate results: as the Course Aligned questionnaire will not proceed past the level identified in the course profile, the result is not necessarily the learner’s maximum capability, nor will it show their capability against the complete framework. Instead, it is a snapshot of their skills/knowledge against a specific training product.

Knowledge Check Questions

  • All skills areas included
  • Questions begin at level identified via pre-screening question responses.
    • e.g., if candidate selected 'Intermediate' level for skill area 1.1, then questions will begin at the 'Intermediate' level for that area
  • Only skills areas relevant to selected Course Profile included
  • Questions start one band below level needed in Course Profile
    • If only 'Basic' level is required, which is the lowest level, questions will only be asked at that level
  • Questions will not go past the required level identified in the Course Profile
Skills Comparisons Multiple/Unlimited comparisons can be carried out against any course/job profile
  • Automatic comparison against the selected course profile
  • No other comparisons can be made

Included Questionnaire Types - Overview

An overview of the questionnaire types available in Digital Robot for Study systems and their purposes is shown below as a quick reference guide.

Questionnaire

Purpose

Digital Profiler (Complete)

Comprehensive assessment of digital capability across the full DigComp framework

Digital Profiler - Course Aligned

Assessment against the skills required for a specific course based on the selected course profile

Course Ready Assesses whether a learner can realistically access and participate in online learning

API/Integration Users

For users of APIs/integrations, no changes to existing integrations will be required.

To use the Course Aligned version of the Digital Profiler questionnaire, ensure that the function is toggled on in the System Settings - Questionnaire Settings of the Digital Robot System, and that Course Profiles have been created and set as Public. See Course Profiles (Overview) and Create and Edit Course Profiles for more information on this process.

When an invitation is issued via the integration the learner/candidate will have the option to select a course (from the public list) when confirming their details at the start of the questionnaire. Once a course is selected they will move directly to the course aligned questionnaire. If they select "I don't know which course..." they will move to the complete Digital Profiler questionnaire, and a comparison report can be created in Digital Robot once the questionnaire is completed.
